So Have You Heard The One About...?

I've got a good one for you. While giving a history lesson to around 1500 Catholic theology students the Pope, reading from a 14th century document, says:

"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
In angry response two Muslims stormed a Catholic hospital in Somalia and shot a 70 year old nun 3 times in the back killing her and her body guard. Then we find out:

"Hardline cleric Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Malin [in Somalia] on Friday told worshippers at his mosque to hunt down and kill whoever offended the Prophet Mohammed. "
Okay so let me make sure I have this right; These Muslims are angry about the Pope reading from a document more than 600 years old, which describes their religion evil and inhuman and to express this anger they go out and murder innocent people?

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this?

haha, well, that is what the real world is! i can preach to everyone and every single day that i'm am a peaceful person serving a god who only emphasize peace and the list go on......but when you say my god is evil or the likes of that, i make sure i mutilate you in person.....after which, i go out and sing "i come in peace"....

personally, i really think that religion is never a bad thing, the only bad side about a religion is the followers' "faith level". let me explain a little. to me, a hardcore believer to any religion is never a good thing. examples of those bad sides includes those followers who believe in EVERYTHING the leader of that particular religion says, like a religious leader saying to the followers "you must rape a women everyday to show that you are loyal to our god" and then the follower accepts and did exactly what was told. this is what i call blind followers. the other type is that the follower will do ANYTHING to protect his/her faith, like the one you just mentioned, "you say my god teaches me to kill? i'll prove you wrong by killing you!" what an irrational follower. another type is the ones who judge other people by their religion or by the fact they do not believe in the same religion as them, like for example, "i believe in so and so to be the god of earth, you dont? then you are not one of us as humans, you are my enemy at best!" what an ignorant fool, you dont need others to have the same religion as you for them to be your friends, be reasonable, you think A is god, while i think B is god, and since we cant prove it, just accept that it is a freedom of choice, each of us might/might not be wrong/right!

I see the tragedy of it too.
